The Big Give is an annual fundraising effort that we have participated in for the last 13 years, in an effort to pay off the cost of building The LifeCentre in Sale.

The fundraising takes place over the course of a whole month, and this year it will be happening throughout October.

The LifeCentre opened in February 2013 - following an 18 month long building project, and over 20 years or prayer, planning and fundraising.

Vision for The LifeCentre was first cast in the 1990s, as a space for the church to continue growing and to continue serving the surrounding area. In the 2000s, the leadership team at the time brought fresh momentum to the project by sacrificially pledging over £140,000 of their own money to the project.

The following years saw huge amounts of sacrificial giving from across the church family, generating well over £1 million of privately donated funding. Combined with grant-funding, local partnerships, long term loans from individuals, and a substantial mortgage, the finances were in place for the project to commence in September 2011 - starting with the demolition of the previous buildings.

The LifeCentre has now been the home of LifeChurch Sale for over 13 years, and the base for LifeChurch Manchester as whole. The building also functions as a community hub and conference centre, regularly used by a wide range of organisations, including Trafford Council, the NHS, and many more.

The LifeCentre cost about £3.7 million to build, and we are incredibly grateful that we have been able to pay off over £3 million.

We now have a mortgage of just over £500,000, and we would love to see this significantly reduced.

Earlier this year, LifeChurch Manchester's leadership team considered whether we, as a church, should try to pay off the entire mortgage within the year. We would love to be able to do this, not least because it would have significant impact on the other things we would be able to do if we weren’t still servicing the mortgage. Whilst the leadership team didn’t quite reach the point of feeling that we had the faith and focus to do this in one go, we would absolutely love to take a major chunk out of it.
